| Boulder Opal is the variety found in Queensland and has an ironstone host rock forming naturally as part of the gem. They are solid opals. Boulder Matrix-Opal is ironstone containing veins of precious opal. Boulder-Opal has also a brown ironstone covered with precious opal. Boulder Opal forms in thin veins throughout the ironstone boulder and is cut with the hostrock. Yowah-Nut-Opal has a nut like appearance. Opal occurs in kernels inside an ironstone. These are mined at Yowah in Queensland. |
